Ayrshire Coastal Path

The path opened officially in June and, along with other members of his OIR hillwalking group, I have had the pleasure and indeed the privilege of walking over a number of sections of the path both before and after it was officially opened, the walks being led by Willie Watters who played no small part in its creation. I take my hat off to him and the other members of the Rotary Club in Ayr who not only did the planning but also a substantial amount of the work on site (I suspect their families did not see a lot of the members involved while the work was ongoing). They are due our congratulations for a wonderful achievement which will not only help tourism in the area but also allow the local population to keep fit walking the paths and enjoy the wonderful views that the path gives on virtually its whole length from Glenapp in the south to Skelmorlie in the north.
A book has been published to accompany the walks available from all good booksellers, and a website has been created at www.ayrshirecoastalpath.org which will provide much of the information required
